CHILEAN international Pablo Contreras believes he will ultimately return to Celta Vigo despite enjoying his year-long loan deal at Sporting Lisbon.

The 25-year-old has impressed during his time in Portugal, and Celta boss Miguel Angel Lotina is keen to recall the South American for next term.

"In principle I will return to Celta," said Contreras. "I have received calls from the manager, Miguel Angel Lotina, saying that he wants me to come back."

The centre back stressed though that he was keen to sustain the level of first-team action that he had enjoyed during his spell with Sporting.

"It has been a productive year for me, and I was happy because I had the opportunity to play."

Contreras admitted that he had yet to speak to anyone at Sporting regarding his future at the club, adding he was concentrating solely on helping the club finish the season as well as possible with a Champions League finish now seemingly out of reach.

"We have to try and recover our calmness to win the games remaining so we finish in the best way possible."
