INDEPENDIENTE defender Gabriel Milito is believed to be top of Internazionale coach Hector Cuper's transfer list when the Italian market reopens on January 2.

Argentinian coach Cuper (pictured) is due to meet with club president Massimo Moratti to discuss their transfer strategy over the next few days.

Parts of the Italian media have already started describing Milito as 'the new Franco Baresi' and with Inter alleged to require at least two defenders, a central one and a wing back, it seems that Independiente's young star, along with Celta Vigo's Juanfran are on Cuper's wanted list.

Milito has interested a host of European sides including Spurs but a potential move to Real Zaragoza broke down and the player was not interested in a transfer to the Bundesliga.

Alternatives to the duo include Marco Malago of Genoa or Fiorentina's Emiliano Moretti whilst players possibly leaving the Giuseppe Meazza include Adriano who could go on loan to La Fiore and Michele Serena moving to Bologna, also temporarily.
