Manchester United may be thwarted in their attempt to sign Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera with the deal understood to have been affected by "bureaucratic problems".
United are prepared to meet the 36million euros release clause that would allow him to leave Bilbao having seen an opening bid of £25m turned down on Thursday.
Sky Sports La Liga expert Guillem Balague tweeted earlier on Monday: "United have offered 36 for Herrera.
"Herrera will have to pass medical and United pay it all in cash but deal practically done."
But David Moyes may yet be frustrated as he tries to bring Herrera to Old Trafford, with work still to be done to ensure the move comes to fruition.
