Athletic Bilbao are confident both Santiago Ezquerro and Ismael Urzaiz will sign contract extensions before the end of the month.The strikers will both be out of contract in the summer and have been tipped to leave on free transfers.
Barcelona, Valencia and Real Betis are all thought to be trailing Ezquerro while Urzaiz is reported to be considering his options having been left unsatisfied with the new terms he has been offered.
But Athletic president Fernando Lamikiz has claimed he is hopeful of brokering new deals for both players, and expects to have their situations 'resolved' in the next few weeks.
Speaking about Ezquerro on Euskal Telebista, Lamikiz stated: "His first option is to stay.
"He believes it will be his last professional contract which is why he wants to study all offers carefully and consider not just the economic side but also other factors.
"But we have made him a very good offer and we are waiting for his answer."
