Gabriel Calderon has left his post as Real Betis manager following relegation to the Segunda Division, the club have confirmed.
The former Argentina international, whose contract expired on June 30, only took over at the Estadio Benito Villamarin in January but could not stop the Andalucian outfit going down, winning just four of his league games in charge.
"Gabriel Humberto Calderon will not be professionally linked to Real Betis from July 1," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The coach had a meeting last week with president Manuel Dominguez Platas and vice president Fernando Casas to tell them of his intention to take another direction."
Betis finished the season 15 points adrift of safety.
