Real Betis coach Pepe Mel has signed a new contract tying him to the Primera Division outfit until 2017.
Mel, 50, took charge of Betis in 2010 and led them to a seventh-placed finish in the recently-completed season.
Mel said: "I would like to give thanks for something that is not common; that a club puts their trust in a coach not only in the good times but also when things are not going so well. That has been key in my decision.
"I'm at the club that I want to be, where I feel valued and liked by the fans. We are doing things slowly but using common sense."
