Real Betis defender Daniel Alejandro Lembo faces around three months on the sidelines with a knee injury.
The Uruguayan international has strained ligaments in his left knee and faces a lengthy spell out of action.
He sustained the injury on Monday as he trained alone and has been advised to give the knee complete rest for around 50 days.
It is then expected that it will take him a further six weeks to regain full fitness meaning he will miss most of the second half of the season.
The news will come as real blow to the 28-year-old who would have been hoping to impress new coach Luis Fernandez having featured only three times under Javier Irureta in the first part of the campaign.
