Betis reveal Vogel option

Real Betis have revealed that they are close to securing the services of Johann Vogel.

Real Betis have revealed that they are close to securing the services of Swiss international Johann Vogel as part of the deal that will take Ricardo Oliveira in the opposite direction to Milan.

Speaking at the presentation of Brazilian star Jorge Wagner, Betis president Pepe Leon disclosed the club's interest in Vogel.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who has previously been linked with Manchester United, is some way down the pecking order at Milan and now looks set to be used as a makeweight in the £10 million deal for striker Oliveira.

Leon, who expects the Oliveira move to go through on Wednesday, also confirmed his intention to see that the Brazilian striker pays the ‚é¼1 million (£600,000) fine imposed on him by the club for his late return from a loan spell in Brazil, regardless of the transfer.

Meanwhile, Wagner - who can operate at left back or on the left side of midfield - expressed his intention to settle quickly at Betis following his switch from Internacioanl de Porto Alegre.

"My intention is to adapt as rapidly as possible and help make Betis more competitive," Wagner declared.
