The 27-year-old joined Betis two years ago from Torino but saw his chances hit by injury.
A serious knee ligament complaint in October 2004 saw him sidelined until well into 2005 and last term he managed just seven first-team starts.
Although his contract at the Ruiz de Lopera ran until 2009, Betis have agreed to cancel it to allow him to seek a new start.
His stock in Italy remains high and Udinese are now keen to sign him on a free.
