Osasuna star Valdo has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after picking up a freak injury against Real Sociedad on Wednesday night.
The forward was forced off just after half-time following a heavy collision with Sociedad midfielder John Viafara - who is currently on loan from Portsmouth.
In the clash, Valdo fell on his own elbow and sustained a nasty blow to his kidney region which saw him hospitalised with internal injuries.
He was kept in overnight after repeated vomiting and tests showed damage to his kidney and bowel regions.
The club have released statement saying they do not know how long the player will be sidelined, but it is thought unlikely he will play again this season.
"It's to early to say (how long he will be out for)," stated Osasuna doctor Patxi Cipriain.
"First it's about his well-being, which we don't think will be a problem, then it's about the sporting side of things and we don't yet know how long he will be out."
