Two of Serbia & Montenegro's leading players have laid down the gauntlet to Spain's galaxy of stars, with their message being: "We are not afraid".

Osasuna's Savo Milosevic and Internazionale's Dejan Stankovic have both expressed their confidence that they can take advantage of some key weaknesses in the Spain side.

Serbia welcome Spain to Belgrade for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier, and the hosts currently sit top of the group - two points ahead of their opposition.

And Milosevic, who has scored an impressive 32 goals for his country, outlined what could be an important factor in the game.

"Spanish players are much more tired as all of them have played loads of difficult games in the past six or seven months. I am positive that it can be a very good advantage for us."

Milosevic's international team-mate Stankovic echoed these views, telling the Serbian media: "We are not afraid of Spain despite their favourite status.

"The pressure is more on them as they are trailing us in the table. So, a draw is much more suitable for us as we will keep the two-point advantage."

Stankovic, who has only just returned from injury himself, hopes that his team can capitalise on Spain's key injuries and perceived weak defence.

"Their midfield will not be as strong without Baraja and Marchena, as it puts too much pressure on Xavi. Also, I rate that their defence is the weak link of the team, but we should pay extra attention on their offensive players, especially Luque and Joaquin on the wings and Torres in the centre."

Spain will travel to Belgrade hoping for a repeat of their weekend performance, which earned them a 3-0 win against China.
