Mallorca are to release striker Diego Tristan and have brought in Argentine youngster Oscar Trejo to replace him.
Tristan returned to Mallorca for a second spell with the club last summer after annulling his contract with Deportivo La Coruna.
However, the 31-year-old has struggled for form and fitness, managing just five starts so far this term and has yet to find the net.
The Islanders now appear to have decided to cut their losses on the former Spain international and seem certain to show him the door on Wednesday.
In his place they have snapped up Argentine prospect Trejo who came through the youth ranks at Boca Juniors.
The 18-year-old is understood to have signed a four-and-a-half year contract at the ONO Estadi although Mallorca are still waiting for Boca to officially process the deal.
Trejo trained with his new team-mates on Tuesday and will be hoping to break into the Islanders first-team during the second half of the season.
