Veteran Spanish defender Miguel Angel Nadal has announced his retirement.
The 38-year-old Real Mallorca ace has decided to hang up his boots after an illustrious career.
Nadal has made just six appearances for Mallorca this season and he has struggled with injuries and form.
The no-nonsense defender made his name at Mallorca before moving to Barcelona in 1991 and helping the Catalan giants to five La Liga titles and the European Cup in 1992.
Nadal is best known on these shores for his penalty miss in Spain's shoot-out defeat to England in Euro 96 and he is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe over the last decade.
