Mallorca have completed the signing of Brazilian Felipe Melo, and have let striker Jesus Perera move on loan to Celta Vigo.

Melo, an attacking midfielder, joins from Gremio and becomes The Islanders' fifth signing of the transfer window.

The player has cut something of a controversial figure in Brazil recently, with press reports claiming he had threatened two youths with a knife during a fight in Rio de Janeiro, but will be looking to get his career back on track in Spain.

Melo's arrival convinced Mallorca boss Hector Cuper to allow Perera (pictured) to complete a loan switch to Segunda outfit Celta.

The 24-year-old will be hoping to secure regular action with the Galicians with whom he will stay until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Cuper decided to shelve his interest in Argentine midfielder Guillermo Marino - a target for Primera rivals Albacete - because of the sparkling recent form of Venezuelan Juan Arango.
