AEK Athens have signed Rodolfo Martin Arruabarrena from Villarreal.
The Argentinian left-back was contracted to the Spanish club until 30th June but both sides agreed not to continue with the deal.
Arruabarrena has signed with AEK until 2009 on an initial two-year deal with the option of a further year.
"I am very happy to come to AEK. I know that I come to a club with a big history, a club which has made big steps forward in the past few years," he told the club's website.
"The most important thing that made up my mind to join AEK was my conversation with Lorenzo Serra Ferrer and president Demis Nikolaidis.
"I am very satisfied with the financial side of the deal, but it was not of the most importance for my decision.
"The important thing for me was the ambition of the club. My target from now on is to have some good preparation during the summer and then a positive performance in the Champions League and of course to win the Greek title."
Meanwhile, Villarreal defender Pascal Cygan's season came to an early halt after he suffered serious knee ligament damage during Sunday's match in Tarragona.
Now the player and doctors must decide if surgery is necessary to help the problem heal.
