Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini is confident that Matias Fernandez will prove a big hit in the Spanish League.
The Yellow Submarines paid Colo Colo é¼7million (£4million) to secure the services of the Chilean youngster who will be eligible for action in January.
Pellegrini is hopeful he will make his debut on 7th January in his side's derby with Valencia, but admits he will have to check on the youngster's fitness given that he has just come to the end of a full season of football in his homeland.
"Matias will adapt to Spanish football because of his quality, not because there are many South Americans in our team," he stated.
"If he plays well he is going to be comfortable and I believe a lot in his quality and that's why I think that he is going to have success in Spain.
"I think that Matias is going to be able to make his debut in January as the first match of Villarreal in the New Year will be on January 7 against Valencia.
"But it will also depend on his physical conditions. He has played a lot until now and the season in South America is getting to an end while here in Spain we are just in the middle of the season.
"In January we have many games to play so I think that he will debut then, but first we have to see what physical condition he is in."
