Alessio Tacchinardi is hopeful he can extend his stay at Villarreal beyond the end of the season.
The Italian international joined The Yellow Submarines on a season-long loan deal from Juventus last summer and has made a positive impression at El Madrigal.
While not a regular, the 30-year-old has played his part in the club's run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals and is hopeful the club will agree a permanent deal for him.
His contract with Juve runs until 2008, but Tacchinardi is looking to stay in Spain.
"I have a contract with Juventus until 2008 and the decision is down to the two clubs," he stated.
"I know that talks are underway but I have not received any news.
"I want to stay there and I believe that is possible."
Villarreal boss Manuel Pellegrini is understood to have instructed his board to thrash out a permanent deal for the midfielder.
