Villarreal president Fernando Roig has no plans to sell Juan Roman Riquelme to Internazionale.

Argentine ace Riquelme has been linked with an end-of-season move to Inter as a replacement for his compatriot Juan Sebastian Veron.

Former Manchester United midfielder Veron is due to return to his homeland in the summer and Inter have reportedly targeted Riquelme to fill the void.

But while Roig concedes that every player has a price, the Villarreal supremo is aghast at the idea of cashing in on Riquelme.

"Of Inter and Riquelme, I only know that Inter is a great club and Roman is a great player," said Roig.

"With respect to the other stories, I neither know anything, nor has anything been communicated to us.

"He is a Villarreal player for what remains of this season and three more years.

"It is normal that Villarreal does not consider selling him, although in football you never say never.

"For that reason there are release clauses. Roman has a clause between ‚é¼35-‚é¼40 million - that is logical.

"But Villarreal has never been a selling club. It does not mean that we are not open to anything, everything can be studied, but in these moments, nothing exists."

Jan Kromkamp and Luciano Figueroa have also been linked with a January exit from El Madrigal due to their frustration at failing to claim a regular starting spot.

Dutch full back Kromkamp wants a loan move, while Argentinian striker Figueroa is eyeing a switch to River Plate, but Roig is lukewarm to the idea of losing any players.

He added: "This is another idea that has not been raised.

"Villarreal does not think about letting any players leave and the only thing I can say is that I expect all the players to return here in good form and are ready to work."
