Villarreal continued their march towards European glory after a 2-0 second leg win over Steaua Bucharest in the Uefa Cup.

Both sides played out a goalless draw in their delayed first leg in the Romanian capital this past week - thus setting up the tie for Sunday's clash at El Madrigal.

It was the Spanish Primera Liga club that delighted the home crowd just five minutes in when Jose Mari headed home Juan Roman Riquelme's inswinging corner to make it 1-0.

They extended their lead in the second half when Riquelme needed two efforts from penalty spot to make it 2-0 after Villarreal substitute Santiago Cazorla was brought down in the box by Steaua defender Petre Marin.

The 2-0 aggregate win means Villarreal will play Dutch upstarts AZ Alkmaar in an intriguing Uefa Cup quarter final tie next month - with the first leg at El Madrigal on April 7.
