Last season's semi-finalists Villarreal maintained their hopes of glory this time around by seeing of Dynamo Kiev with a 2-0 victory.

Following a goal-less draw in Ukraine a week ago, the Yellow Submarines made no mistake at El Madrigal, progressing thanks to goals from Luciano Figueroa and Santiago Cazorla.

Former Birmingham City striker Figueroa put Villarreal ahead in the tie on 20 minutes when he emphatically headed in Jose Mari's cross from the left.

The advantage was doubled 12 minutes later when Cazorla started a finished a neat passing move that involved Figueroa and Jose Mari.

Juan Roman Riquelme marred the win by getting himself sent off three minutes before the break for a nasty stamp on Kleber.

However, Villarreal comfortably held on in the second period and now face Steaua Bucharest, conquerors of local rivals Valencia.
