Villarreal star fancies Juve

Villarreal defender Gonzalo Rodriguez has conceded he would relish the chance to play for Juventus.

The Argentine stopper joined Villarreal from San Lorenzo last summer and has been hugely impressive in his first term in Spain.

The powerful 20-year-old has only missed one league game this term - through suspension - and is understood to have attracted Juve scouts to El Madrigal.

The Turin giants were interested in signing him last summer before he moved to Villarreal and have maintained a watching brief on his progress.

They are now being tipped to move for him either during the transfer window or at the end of the current campaign, and Gonzalez admits the lure of playing for the Serie A titans is huge.

"Yes, it's true it would be great to play in Italy," he stated.

"Although for now I focusing on Villarreal.

"For the moment that (Juve's interest) is just something in the press because I know nothing about it.

"The story comes from before I signed for Villarreal because they (Juventus) asked about me, but I could not go there.

"Of course any player would love to play there (Juventus). They are one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

"Who wouldn't like to play for Juventus?

"But I also like playing for Villarreal and in Spain. I consider myself fortunate to be here."
