Villarreal striker Sonny Anderson is reported to be the subject of a lucrative contract offer from Qatar.

The Brazilian hit-man is understood to have been offered a six-month deal worth a staggering ‚é¼2.5 million from Al Rayyan.

Unsurprisingly, the 34-year-old is very tempted by the financial package on offer and is ready to head to the Middle East.

However, Villarreal do not want to lose the former Lyon star as they have limited striking options at the club as it is.

Diego Forlan and Jose Mari are the only other strikers in Manuel Pellegrini's senior squad and, with the Yellow Submarines involved in three competitions, the Chilean coach wants to retain Anderson.

Meanwhile, defender Rodolfo Arruabarrena looks set to miss the club's next four games after sustaining a muscular injury.

The Argentine defender will be out for around two weeks and could miss the league matches against Mallorca and Numancia, the Copa del Rey clash with Girona and also the Uefa Cup tie with Lazio.
