Villarreal have been handed a boost with the news that Jose Mari and Antonio Guayre have been given the all-clear to face Celtic in the Uefa Cup on Wednesday.

Jose Mari and Guayre had been rated extremely doubtful with rib and leg injuries respectively, but they proved their fitness to club doctors on Monday.

Guayre has not played since tearing a thigh muscle last month, but surprised club doctor Juan Arbors when coming through a full-scale workout on Monday.

Jose Mari was taken off after 10 minutes of Villarreal's clash with Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend.

The club felt his rib problem would rule him out for at least a week, but he reported for training on Monday and passed a rigorous fitness test and is now ready to face The Bhoys on Wednesday.

The tie is evenly poised, as Villarreal secured a 1-1 draw at Parkhead last week.
