MARTIN PALERMO has asked Boca Juniors not to talk about the possibility of him returning in the summer, as he does not want to give anyone false hope.

The striker is out of contract in the summer and has been strongly linked with a return to Boca, but the powerful Argentine wants to focus on the remaining weeks of the season with Villarreal before making a decision on his future.

He said: "I asked Macri (Boca president Mauricio) not to talk about that until my contract with Villarreal expires so the people don't get the illusion of something that might not happen.

"It could be a possibility to return to Boca but not at this moment as I am under contract with Villarreal."

Palermo`s deal ends in the summer and a return to Boca could suit, as it would give him a better chance of playing for his country.

However, he believes a number of other clubs are monitoring his situation.

He added: "There has been some contact with Cruz Azul and there are also some clubs in Italy and England, so when something happens I will analyse it."

Commenting on his situation with the Argentine national side, he added: "Being called up all depends on the team you are playing in.

"For example, Santiago Solari is playing for Real Madrid, Riquelme for Barcelona. I am playing for a smaller club so they have more chances than me."
