Wigan striker Oriol Riera has joined Spanish club Deportivo de La Coruna on loan until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old is heading back to his homeland having made just one substitute appearance since Malky Mackay took over as manager.
Mackay told the club website: "The reality is that we need to trim the squad and this loan will allow Oriol the opportunity to play more regularly, which is what he needs to do.
"We wish him success back in Spain and will reassess his situation in the summer."
Riera joined the Latics last summer from Osasuna and scored one goal in 13 appearances in the Championship this season.
