Guardiola will decide on new deal when the time is right

Pep Guardiola is in no rush to sign a new contract at Barcelona and claims continued success will have no impact on his decision. Victory at the 2011 Club World Cup saw Barca lift a 13th title under Guardiola's leadership, with the Catalan giants having dominated the global game since he inherited the Camp Nou reins in 2008. Understandably, the club and their legion of followers are keen to see their highly-rated coach agree an extension to his current deal - which is set to expire at the end of the season. Guardiola, who has always worked on short-term agreements, insists he will decide on his future when the time is right, but is adamant that further trophies will play no part in his choice. He told Barca's official website: "It always helps the stability of the club. When I make a decision I will contact the president (Sandro Rossell). "People need to be calm. I know what I'm doing. I know when I have to do it and how it needs to be done."

Lively

Barca will continue in their quest for top honours this term without the services of David Villa, with the striker nursing a broken shinbone. He could miss the remainder of the 2011/12 campaign, but Guardiola says the World Cup winner will come back stronger. "Villa is very encouraged, lively," he said. "This will make him stronger and prolong his career. He'll realise how lucky he is and he'll take everything on with much more desire." With Villa's injury leaving him short on striking options, Guardiola has also confirmed that promising forward Isaac Cuenca will remain with the club and will not be sent out on loan. "Because we lost Villa, I'm sure he will be with us until the end of the season," he added.
