Tottenham target not listening to rumours

Luis Garcia has insisted he does not know where he will be playing when the new season gets underway. The Espanyol forward has been linked with a move to Tottenham and reports this week claimed he was very close to joining the London club. Benfica are also understood to be interested but Garcia admits he has not been given any details. "The reports are rumours, because I don't know anything," He told www.sport.es. "I've left that clear in the past few days. I have been tranquil, because in the holidays I forget football and I was only thinking about relaxing. "I have only heard about this through the press and I don't know anything."

Proud

Garcia accepts that he will probably end up moving on from Espanyol, but he is thankful to the Spanish club for all their support and would be sad to leave. He said: "It seems that there will be a transfer. The interest is flattering because it means that you have done the work well and people have faith in you. But I don't know anything about all this. "I have a contract until 2012. If I have to go, the first one who's going to look for the good of the club will be me. I have felt very loved and am very proud of the club."
No offers
Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez Llibre has also stressed that no bids have yet come in for Garcia. "It's been commented a lot these past few days, but the club have not received any offer for the player," he said. "We have not talked to anyone and, in my opinion, the only offer that is worth anything is when a club gets in direct contact with us. "If everything that appeared in the press was true then all the squad would practically have been sold."
