Deportivo La Coruna president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro has vetoed Fabricio Coloccini's proposed loan move from the club.
The defender-cum-midfielder is not in the plans of coach Joaquin Caparros who has not selected him for the past month.
With the Copa America scheduled for the summer, the Argentine international was keen to secure a loan switch from Depor to boost his chances of selection for the tournament.
Caparros was willing to let him depart the club and both River Plate and San Lorenzo de Almagro expressed an interest in securing his services.
However, Lendoiro ultimately decided it was unwise to release the player with no chance of securing a replacement, with Caparros respecting his decision.
"If Coloccini stays in the end, he can help us," Caparros declared. "He will have his moment and will help us."
