Celta Vigo are closing in on the signature of Crvena Zvezda striker Milan Purovic.
The promising 21-year-old has been the subject of an unsuccessful é¼2.5million (£1.7million) bid already, with the Serbian club thought to be ready to do business if the offer is increased.
"The contact (with Celta) is still not finished," said a club spokesman.
Celta coach Fernando Santos is eager to land Purovic as he looks to bolster his attacking options, but he would not be able to play him until he has shuffled his playing pack.
Already having reached the limit in terms of the number of non-EU players housed in their squad, Celta would not be able to take him until the summer at the earliest.
Purovic has previously been linked to Celta's domestic rivals Deportivo La Coruna but it remains to be seen whether they re-enter the race for his signature.
