Islanders hurry in for Hector

Mallorca have swooped to sign Deportivo La Coruna defender Hector.

Mallorca have swooped to sign Deportivo La Coruna defender Hector.

The 31-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by Depor boss Joaquin Caparros following his capture of Liverpool's Antonio Barragan who is scheduled to be unveiled on Thursday.

Hector was granted a free transfer despite having a year of his contract left to run at The Riazor and Mallorca wasted little time in stepping in.

The former Sevilla man was at Depor five years but could never establish himself as a first-team regular and made a total of 81 appearances for the club.

He has signed a two-year deal at Mallorca and becomes The Islanders' fifth signing of the close season.
