Deportivo La Coruna have reportedly identified Angola striker Mateus as a potential summer recruit.
The 21-year-old currently plays for Portuguese side Gil Vicente and will be travelling to the World Cup as Angola embark on their first finals appearance.
Reports in the Spanish press indicate that Deportivo have entered into negotiations with their Portuguese counterparts, who need to raise funds having been relegated to the Second Division.
Gil Vicente president Antonio Dueza is currently in La Coruna to talk over the potential sale of the former Sporting youth product, although as yet no agreement has been reached.
If he does arrive at the Riazor this summer, Mateus will provide another alternative alongside established forward Diego Tristan.
