Espanyol striker Luis Garcia has committed his future to the Catalans by signing a six-year contract extension.
The 25-year-old joined Espanyol in the summer of 2005 and still had a further four years to run on his existing deal.
However, his fine displays since joining from Mallorca had caught the eye of other Primera outfits - most notably Valencia.
The Che attempted to prise him from Espanyol earlier this summer but were given short shrift by the Barcelona-based outfit.
Indeed, Espanyol responded by offering the hit-man improved terms and he has now put pen-to-paper.
The new deal means Garcia is contracted to Estadi Olimpico de Montjuic until 2012 and is a clear signal of intent by the Catalans that they intend to hold on to their best players.
