Espanyol defender Daniel Jarque has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a three-year contract extension.
The 22-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at Estadio Olimpico de Montjuic, has established himself as a regular in Miguel Angel Lotina's first team this season.
He has formed a solid central defensive pairing with Albert Lopo and attracted admiring glances from a number of Primera rivals with his consistent displays.
However, Espanyol have now moved to secure him by tying him down to a deal that runs until 2009, and the player himself insists he would be happy to remain at the Catalan outfit for the rest of his career.
"The club offered me a new contract for three further seasons," he explained.
"The existing one actually covers this season and had an option to extend it for two more, but the club decided to offer me a new one.
"If it was up to me, I would stay for my entire career at Espanyol.
"It's the club I grew up at and this new contract really shows their faith in me.
"I want to try and establish myself in La Primera, but want to do that with Espanyol."
