Fredson agrees Espanyol stay

Espanyol midfielder Fredson is to sign a new four-year deal with the Catalan club.

Espanyol midfielder Fredson is to sign a new four-year deal with the Primera club.

The Brazilian's contract with the Catalan outfit expires on June 30, but he has now agreed terms on a new one.

It means the 24-year-old has committed his future to Espanyol, a scenario that seemed very unlikely some weeks back.

The player rejected the club's initial offer of a new deal and looked to be heading back to his native Brazil to continue his career.

However, the two sides reached a compromise and Fredson will now put pen to paper when he returns from his summer break.

"The agreement is total and all that is missing is for him to confirm it by signing the documents," Espanyol Cristobal Parralo told the club's official website.
