ESPANYOL'S board of directors have given the green light to manager Javier Clemente to press ahead with the signing of Pierre Wome.

The Catalan club claim a deal is all but in place for the Cameroon international defender, and believe the transfer could go through on Wednesday.

"Today (Wednesday) he will sign," said Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez Llibre.

"We have to send some faxes, but we have reached an agreement and today if everything goes smoothly the deal could be done."

Wome, who spent last season on loan at Fulham from Bologna, will become Espanyol's third new signing for next season following goalkeeper Erwin Lemmens and midfielder Tayfun Korkhut into the club.

The Primera outfit are also close to agreeing a deal to bring Argentine Adrian Bastia to the Estadio Montjuic from Racing Club.

Espanyol will pay the South Americans around ‚é¼500,000 to take the midfielder on loan for the whole of next season, and will then have an option to make the move permanent should he impress.

It also looks likely that Cyril Domoraud will remain with the club next term. The Ivory Coast international, who is currently on loan from Milan, is set to clinch another season-long loan deal.
