Fulham and Hertha have stepped up their interest in Baba Diawara according to reports in Portugal.

Young Senegalese frontman said to have caught Cottagers eye

Fulham and Hertha Berlin have stepped up their chase for Maritimo striker Baba Diawara according to reports in Portugal. The alleged interest is also said to have alerted French league leaders Marseille who are now pondering a bid for the Senegalese frontman. The 21-year-old has enjoyed a good season in Portugal, scoring 10 league goals and causing scouts from across Europe to flock to the Estádio dos Barreiros. Baba admits that he would be interested in a move to the Premier League but adds that he has not been contacted directly by Fulham.

No contact

"Fulham is a good club, if they want to sign me they know what to do," he told skysports.com. "There are no contacts with me. I learnt about it in the papers as well." Baba reveals that he is also aware of the interest from France but accepts that it is up to Maritimo whether he will leave in the summer. "I know there are clubs interested in me in France, but I am at Maritimo and they have the decision, not me."
