Getafe are poised to complete the loan signing of Latvian international striker Maris Verpakovskis.
The 27-year-old is currently on the books of Dynamo Kiev, but finds himself out of favour at the Ukrainian outfit whom he joined in the 2003-04 season.
As a result, Dynamo have consented to a loan that will see the pacey front man join Getafe for the second half of the Spanish season.
The Madrid-based minnows are keen to strengthen their forward-line despite currently sitting sixth in La Liga.
Although fighting for a European place, Bernd Schuster's side have managed just 11 goals in 14 league outings - the joint second-worst attacking record in the Spanish top-flight.
Schuster is keen to add some variety to an attacking stable that currently comprises Dani Guiza, Veljko Paunovic and Sergio Pachon and feels Verpakovskis' renowned speed and trickery will provide the answer.
The Latvian - who managed 77 goals in three seasons with Skonto Riga prior to his move to Dynamo - shot to prominence with his all-action displays at Euro 2004 in Portugal, but has seen his career stutter since as he has struggled in Kiev.
If he impresses in Spain, Getafe will have the option to make the deal permanent.
