Racing Santander are lining up a loan swoop for Sporting Lisbon's Mauricio Pinilla.Racing Santander are lining up a loan swoop for Sporting Lisbon striker Mauricio Pinilla.
The Chilean hit-man is out of favour at the Estadio Jose Alvalade and is keen to move on when the transfer window reopens in January having not started a game this term.
"The situation at Sporting is very negative for Pinilla because he wants to play, but is not being given the opportunity," stated the player's agent Rocco Dozzizi.
The 21-year-old has previous experience of the Spanish game having had a loan spell at Celta Vigo two seasons ago.
He could now get another chance to impress in La Primera, although there is also interest in his services from Italy in the shape of Lazio and Germany.
However, Racing currently appear to be leading the chase for the youngster and their need for goals is abundantly clear.
They are the lowest scorers in Spain's top-flight with only seven goals from 13 games and currently sit third from bottom in the relegation zone.
The Cantabrians have been linked with moves for Dynamo Kiev's Brazilian Kleber and Pinilla's Chile international team-mate Reinaldo Navia, but now seem to have set their sights on the Sporting starlet.
