Recreativo de Huelva have continued their recruitment drive by snapping up defender Mario Alvarez.
The 24-year-old, known as Mario, has joined on a one-year deal from Barcelona.
He was signed by the Catalan giants in the summer of 2003 from Real Valladolid as one for the future, but was never really given the chance to impress at Camp Nou.
He was loaned back to Valladolid after just one season at Barca and has spent the past two seasons with the Segunda outfit.
However, he has now been given the chance to prove himself in the Spanish top-flight with Recre and intends to demonstrate his worth.
"It's very positive to return to the Primera Division and to do it with a serious club like Recreativo," stated the centre back.
"I hope to contribute to the team's attempts to stay up and believe we have the players to do so."
