Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone hailed the character of his side as a 1-1 draw at Barcelona to seal the La Liga title.
Entering the tie at the Nou Camp, Atletico knew that a point would be enough for them to lift the trophy for the first time in 18 years, but a first-half strike from Alexis Sanchez put Barca on course to retain their crown.
A blistering start to the second half saw the visitors equalise through a towering Diego Godin header and despite waves of late pressure from the hosts, Simeone's men held on to the result they needed to clinch the title.
Simeone said: "It was the work-rate, which was never negotiable. We always aimed to have no debt to anyone but ourselves.
"I think the team always knew what was possible and I think today is sure to be one of the most important days in the history of the club.
"To leave Barcelona as champions, there is only joy."
