Melo claims move is close

Felipe Melo claims he will soon be on his way out of Juventus, while the Serie A outfit have released Tiago.

Tiago agrees to terminate his contract and joins Atletico

Felipe Melo claims he will soon be on his way out of Juventus, while the Serie A outfit have released Tiago. Brazilian midfielder Melo has been the subject of intense transfer speculation this summer, with it widely expected that he would secure a return to his homeland. Sao Paulo expressed an interest in reaching an agreement, but they have been left disappointed. Melo has instead opted to remain in Europe and has revealed that he is poised to complete a switch to an unnamed club in the near future. "I had already chosen the place to live in Brazil," said Melo. "I know that at Sao Paolo I would have been treated with a lot of affection. "However, I have received an offer from a European club that greatly increases my salary. "Now we are finalising the details and over the next few days all will be completed." Melo, who is under contract with Juve until June 2014, has been a reported target of Paris St Germain and Galatasaray.

Spanish switch

Meanwhile, Juventus have confirmed that Portuguese midfielder Tiago has had his contract terminated by mutual consent. The 30-year-old midfielder struggled to make an impact in Turin, making just 42 appearances for the club after joining the Serie A outfit in 2007 from Lyon. A statement from the club said: "Juventus announces it has mutually agreed with Tiago to terminate his contract." The Portugal international had one year left on his contract with the Bianconeri but has been allowed to cut his stay short and move on to former loan employers Atletico Madrid. A statement on the Spanish outfit's official website read: "Tiago is an Atletico Madrid player after his contract with Juventus was terminated and he has signed a two-year deal with the Red and Whites."
