Juventus midfielder rejects move to Everton

Juventus claim that midfielder Tiago has turned down the opportunity to join Everton on loan. The Serie A club had agreed terms with the Toffees for the season-long loan of Tiago, with a view to a permanent deal. However, Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco says that the Portuguese has rejected a move to the Premier League. Everton boss David Moyes is eager to reinforce his central midfield options before the end of the transfer window, but it appears he will be forced to do without former Chelsea player Tiago.

"We had reached an agreement with Everton for the loan of Tiago. All that was needed was the player's agreement, and that never came, Secco told Canale 5. "We take it, therefore, that Tiago will stay with us." Meanwhile, Secco has announced that there will be no new faces at Juventus this summer regardless of whether or not Tiago leaves. "The market remains closed to us regarding players coming in, like we already said some time ago," he added. "Even if Tiago leaves nobody else will come in."
