Atletico Madrid have decided to take up their option to buy back striker Javier Arizmendi from Deportivo La Coruna at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old striker came though the youth ranks at Atletico and was always regarded as an exciting prospect, but never quite made the breakthrough expected of him at the Vicente Calderon.
As a result he was sold to Depor during last season's January transfer window in a bid to help him realise his potential.
The move has paid dividends and while not a prolific scorer at Depor, six in 35 appearances, Arizmendi has turned in some eye-catching displays for the Galicians.
Indeed, his form this term saw him called up to the Spain squad for the friendly against Romania last November and he was only denied an international debut by an injury.
His progression has now convinced Atletico to exercise the buy-back option they insisted on when selling him to Depor, meaning he will return to the Spanish capital at the end of the campaign with Atletico paying Depor é¼3 million (£2 million).
