Wagner denies Atletico talk

Cruzeiro's Wagner claims he is in the dark over speculation linking him with Atletico.

Cruzeiro midfielder Wagner claims he is in the dark over stories linking him with a possible move to Atletico Madrid.

The Liga team have reportedly targeted the Brazilian with a view to completing a transfer when the window reopens in January.

But Wagner is unable to corroborate the reports, with the player insisting he is focusing instead on his contract with Cruzeiro which does not expire until the summer of 2010.

"All that I know is what I have read in the press. Nobody has officially spoken with me. I am calm because I am still in contract at Cruzeiro for four more years and I expect to stay at this club until it expires," said Wagner.

"The people who may know about this situation are the officials of Cruzeiro or my agent Angelo Pimentel. Personally I don't know anything."

Meanwhile, Atletico striker Braulio has been linked with a move to Liga rivals Deportivo La Coruna in the New Year.

Braulio is currently on loan at Spanish second division side Salamanca, but reports claim a ‚é¼2 million (£1.3 million) move is in the pipeline.

Atletico could compensate Salamanca for the loss of Braulio by offering them the loan of Adrian.
