Atletico Madrid insist they have the quality to cope with long-term injuries to stars Maxi Rodriguez and Martin Petrov.
Both players recently sustained knee ligament injuries and look set to miss the majority of the campaign as a result.
But the club's sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has rejected the call for new reinforcements at Vicente Calderon.
"The intention at the start was to have a competitive squad and one that can cover in any contingency or problems during the season," Pitarch explained.
"We are only in two competitions, the league and the cup. We thought, and still do, that the number of players that are in the squad was enough to respond to situations such as this.
"It is true that we have suffered two important losses now and it is the obligation of the club to continually study the market.
"Every team can improve, but I want to say that we are not about to bring anyone in nor are we searching for any new players.
"The daily reports that we are signing certain people is not true, we are not."
