Atletico Madrid midfielder Gabi has been ruled out for just six weeks after a lucky escape from a car crash.
The youngster was travelling home from Vicente Calderon after his team's 2-1 win over Sevilla on Saturday night when his car skidded off the road.
He was taken to hospital for tests, where doctors confirmed he had suffered severe bruising and a broken collar bone, but the player knows it could have been a lot worse.
"It was frightening," he admitted.
"I was driving along when the accident happened on an exit road.
"I have been very lucky and fortunate nothing serious happened. The car skidded due to the rain and the sand on the road."
While he will now faces a month-and-a-half on the sidelines, Gabi is learning to comes to terms with the situation and remains upbeat.
"We will have to see how it goes, but I will probably be out for about six weeks," he added.
"The break was clean and I will not need surgery.
"I am already feeling better and am adjusting to what has happened.
"Now I am focusing on recovering from this. Both the club and my team-mates were worried about me and I have stayed in constant contact with them."
