Atletico Madrid midfielder Ariel Ibagaza has stressed that he is ready to commit his long-term future to the club.

The Argentine's contract expired last month, prompting fervent speculation that he could be set for a departure from the club.

However, the 29-year-old has become a regular starter in recent weeks, and he has now insisted that he wants to see his career out in Madrid.

"My idea is to stay at Atletico Madrid. I am very comfortable here so if the club want me to continue I am sure there will be no problem in signing a new contract," he explained.

"I always intended to stay here. I received some interesting offers from other teams but I want to stay and renew my contract as soon as possible."

"The club and I wish to reach an agreement. I am waiting for my agent to come back from Argentina so we can talk about this with the Atletico officials and get things resolved."
