Deportivo La Coruna have finalised a deal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Javier Arizmendi who will undergo a medical on Friday.

The 21-year-old finds himself out of favour under Carlos Bianchi at Atletico and has played only five minutes in La Liga this season.

Despite this he is rated as a major talent and impressed on a season-long loan spell at Racing Santander last term when he managed three goals in 22 appearances.

Depor have concurred on a four-and-a-half year deal with Arizmendi although a fee for the transfer has yet to be confirmed.

A Spanish youth international, Atletico are keen to retain an option on the young striker should he prove a major success during his time at The Riazor.

To this end they have inserted a clause in the deal which allows them to buy back Arizmendi at any point during the first two years of his contract for a fee of ‚é¼4 million.

The player will become Depor boss Joaquin Caparros' first signing of the winter transfer window.
