Atletico Madrid are eager to wrap up the signing of Martin Petrov in double-quick time after reportedly agreeing a fee of ‚é¼9 million with Wolfsburg.

The Liga outfit have been pursuing the Bulgarian forward for some time but were frustrated in their attempts to clinch a deal as The Wolves held out for a higher fee.

However, with personal terms already agreed, Atletico are now confident of announcing the arrival of their primary target in the next few days after reputedly having an improved offer accepted.

The 26-year-old has already voiced his intention to tie up all the loose ends by Wednesday, and Atletico director of sport Antonio Munoz has now made clear his desire to add Petrov to the Vicente Calderon roster in rapid fashion.

"We want to sign Petrov as soon as possible," said Munoz.

"Our priority is bringing him in. Everything is settled with the player and very soon we will be able make an announcement.

"It is not a question of money now, but finding an agreement with Wolfsburg to let him go as he has already said that he wants to leave.

"Signing Petrov is at the top of the list for both the directors and coach and everything is in place for it to become reality."
