BENFICA are tracking Milan trio Demetrio Albertini, Fabricio Coloccini and Jose Mari, who have spent the season on loan at Atletico Madrid.
With Benfica gearing towards a Champions League assault next season, coach Jose Antonio Camacho is eager to bolster his squad.
The Portuguese giants have a healthy relationship with Milan and may use their good contacts to procure the services of the triumvirate.
Albertini, Coloccini and Jose Mari (pictured) have enjoyed their season-long stints in La Liga after being deemed surplus to requirements at Milan.
The troika are unlikely to force their way back into Carlo Ancelotti's plans during the summer and further loan spells could be in the pipeline.
The potential stumbling block for Benfica is persuading the players to link up with them in Portugal as they are expected to be given the green light by the Champions League winners to proceed with their swoop.
Italian midfielder Albertini recently expressed that he wanted to either return to Milan or stay with Atletico, and those sentiments were also echoed by young defender Coloccini.
